How Many Marys?
According to
difference sources, you can get a number of usually
six or seven. However, I have found that the "seven"
source has duplicated one.
I only am convinced of SIX MARYS IN THE New
Testament of the King James.
1. The betrothed of Joseph being the Virgin Mary,
Mother of Jesus Christ. Matt. 1:18---25; 12:46; Mark
6:3; Luke 8:19; John 19:26; Acts 1:14.
2. Wife of Cleophas. Matt. 27:56, 61; 28:1---9; Mark
16:1---8; Luke 24:1--10.
3. Mother of John Mark. Acts 12:12; Col. 4:10.
4. Sister of Martha and Lazarus. Luke 10:41-42; John
11:12.
5. Mary Magdalene. Matt. 28:1---10; Mark 16:1----10;
Luke 24:10; John 20:1-----18.
6. A Roman Convert - by Paul - Rom. 16:6.
Note: There were THREE (3) (of these) Marys at the
Cross. John 19:25. |

Ecclesiastes 12:1
"Remember now the creator in the days of thy youth,
while the evil days come not, nor the years draw
nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in
them;"
I wish I had realized in my younger days how
important it was to dwell upon the Lord, to put more
scriptures to memory, to dwell more on the beauty of
God’s work, not only on the eternal phase of his
work, but also all the natural beauty that he has
formed. Yet most of all that we ourselves was
created in his likeness. As I grow older I find that
my hearing gets worse, that my eyesight is not what
it was, my daily activity is not what it was and I
realize that these things will get worse as we grow
older. Maybe if we would put more scriptures to
memory, to remember the creator in the days of our
youth, to have that sweet fellowship with our savior
would make our golden years more golden. Maybe I
would think more on the Lord now and have my mind
fixed on the Lord instead of upon the pains that
come through old age. We have wasted so much time on
self and have spent so little time thinking upon the
things of God. May we all do better.

They say: “We lull
our people to sleep preaching grace.”
What they don’t realize is grace is not the cradle
that
rocks us to sleep, it’s the engine that makes us go.
Faith doesn’t get you
around your troubles, it leads you through them.
“Folks say, we don't believe in works, just grace.”
Shucks, the best way there is to kill time, is to
work it to death!

Landmarks of the Church

|
|
An
article by Elder R. H. Pittman published in a 1923 Advocate
and Messenger (Luray, Va.) reminded us of the landmarks of
the apostolic church, originally set forth by Elder
Sylvester Hassell, and later by Elder Lee Hanks.
1. A regenerated and converted membership.
2. Practice the immersion of believers in water or
(believers baptism).
3. Closed communion (baptized believers only).
4. Maintenance of strict discipline.
5. Independent congregational government of each local body.
6. Independence or separation from state, regarding
membership, ministry, organization, faith worship and
discipline of the church.
7. A generally poor, obscure, unlearned, afflicted, despised
and persecuted membership (this is worded in a way that
tends to spiritual, more than physical).
8. Equality of all members.
9. A God-called, God-qualified and humble ministry.
10. No salaried ministry.
11. A Spirit directed ministry (divinely called, qualified
and sent, when and where to preach....not by the church).
12. Belief that the Church is the only divinely recognized
religious organization in the world, and that it is free of
all organizations and societies, not implemented by Christ
and/or the apostles.
