The Cross - Two Views

Elder John (Pat) Young--Editor

My view:

“When I survey the wondrous cross; on which the prince of glory died: My richest gain I count but loss; and pour contempt on all my pride.”

His View:

Who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Love worketh no ill to his neighbour; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
(Romans 13:10) Love is a wonderful word and yet at times, we use it to loosely. Saying that we love someone does show that we love someone. We can say the words with no meaning, just to fill up space. Paul is telling us that love is the fulfilling of the law. As I think about it being the fulfilling of the law, I can not help but think about Christ fulfilling the law for us. Out of love for God and his chosen people, Christ died for us. Not only did he die for us, but at the same time he was fulfilling God righteous laws for us.

We may not like the way someone base their lives, but we can still love them for Christ`s sake. If I told my wife that I loved her and never did anything for her, then it would make me liar. But if I really love her I will be doing things for her good. "Love God with all your heart and with all your mind and all your soul, and the second is liken unto it, love thy neighbour as thy self."  Brother George

Prayer

Three Easy Steps

1.   Come boldly to the throne of grace.
2.   Pour out your cry for mercy, blessing and grace.
3.   Thank your great High Priest for grace and help.

Why?

Heb 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

In this verse of = James 1:27 - “PURE religion and UNDEFILED” is stressed. Notice carefully these TWO words- “before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and the widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” The word also that must be observed is “VISIT,” even in the form of a phone call, letter, or e-mail. The word “affliction” is in the singular, as it is teaching that of “LONELINESS.” Please consider your valuable PBC Membership, wherein there should be no slackness or even mildness, but such is PURE and UNDEFILED. 100 % in both cases. Seriously ! ! !

 • Son, the best way to kill time, is by working it to death.

• Son, always take good care of your Mom; she always took good care of you.

• Son, repaying a debt, is like standing in the shoes of the one who loaned you the money to start with.... He trusted you with his money; now you trust him with yours.

• Son, do unto others, then split; is not the golden rule...

Psalms 25:14 – “The secret of the Lord is with them That Fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.” For context we can know that the Lord has MORE THAN one secret or covenant, Eternal and Timely/N.T. Gospel. The context is found in the whole chapter.

The secret of his purposes with them; as his purpose according to election; his resolution to redeem his chosen ones by his Son; his design to call them by his grace; then his predestination of them to the adoption of children, and eternal life; which are the deep things of God the Spirit of God reveals; and all which are made manifest to them in effectual calling; and the secret of his providence is with them; some are made known to them that fear the Lord before they come to pass.

The beauty of this verse is really found in BOTH SALVATIONS. Having Eternal and then KNOWING timely about it is beautiful.
